How 84 Diamond Discs look after a transatlantic flight
In spite of the condition of the exterior boxes, the double boxed, individually sleeved in paper then plastic, bubble wrapped in groups of ten, discs made it in perfect condition, Fargo > Minneapolis > Paris > Prague finally delivered three days after I arrived home.

Re: How 84 Diamond Discs look after a transatlantic flight
When I made my first trip to Europe, I was working in London for 3 months and accumulated a lot of souvenirs, including 2 dozen 78s, all packed (by me) in large boxes. When I unpacked everything, to my great joy, the only thing that broke in all of the boxes was a small beer glass I bought in East Berlin. The records arrived fully intact. (Since someone is going to ask, they were mostly rock 78s which are, or at least were then, much cheaper in the UK than the US.)
I always tell sellers 2 things: 1) if you shake the box and anything moves, it's not packed well enough, and 2) assume the box is going to be dropped on the ground from a height of 3 feet and pack accordingly.

Looks as if the parachute failed to open when they were dropped from the delivery plane.. Glad they arrived safely though

It will take a lot more than that to break a Diamond disc.
I'm glad they made it safe and sound. I hope the are 52000 and still sound great.

They are a variety of discs, yes, some 52000, a lot of 51000 foxtrots and several 82000 & 83000 for good measure.Kevan wrote:It will take a lot more than that to break a Diamond disc.![]()
