Anyone seen anything like this? Could it be for real? Or a Frankenphone?

Re: Is this for real?
It realy is what it is...and it is interesting , and it seems well made...it appears to be recently constructed from a supply of period parts...The question is : "Is it better to have the spare/salvaged stuff in a junk box , or assembled into a quasi-gramophone"?...there are good arguements for both sides.....somehow "Frankenphone" seems a bit harsh a term for a person's ingenuity, and craftmanship...now trying to pass it off as a real period gramophone , well , that's different.....On the otherhand , ½ of the body of my 54 Chev pickup is new parts , and the engine is a period 6 cyl GM industrial engine from an agricultural machine , and I still call this a 54 Chev....not a Frankenchev....It's all food for thought...I never met a gramophone I didn't like....

The components all look genuine to me, even if they might not all have started life together.Le0 wrote:I think it's fake.
What "faker" would go to the trouble and expense of constructing that monstrosity of a horn?

That Gilbert in a buffet may have been done a long time ago, possibly when the piece was new- I've seen similar examples.

An authentic buffet phonograph. This one is rather nice looking.estott wrote:That Gilbert in a buffet may have been done a long time ago, possibly when the piece was new- I've seen similar examples.
