Funny enough a local antiques and records dealer has a Credenza with the exact same modification. I guess more than one person thought to "repair" a broken bracket/reproducer that way.

It's an interesting solution. I have no idea what the exhibition head is doing in there as well but this seems to be a pattern. The last three of these I have seen for sale have had multiple reproducers in them.
