Ebay Problems

Post by Phonofreak »

I hope you ebay gurus out there can help me. I bought an item on ebay and won the item with a very low bid. I thought that I got a good deal on it. I immediately emailed the seller asking if insurance was included in the shipping or if it is extra. I also gave him packing instructions of how I want the item packed. I included my phone number so he can contact me. His number is no good. He never responded my emails. They were ignored. I had a gut feeling that he didn't want to sell the item because the winning bid was so low. Not only did he ignore my emails, I get an unpaid case opened in my ebay account. I think the seller did this so he can get his fee back at my expense of a clean record.I went to the customer service to complain about this seller, and all you can do is call them. I did this a few years ago, and you speak with someone from India or the Philippines, and the language barrier is terrible. Does anybody know how I can send an email to ebay's customer service? Is this futile? Any info is appreciated.

Pay, and if the seller does not send, file a claim. You will get your money back then leave negative feedback. You have to pay if you win unless there is a misrepresentation. If you do not pay you must have a good reason. eBay frowns winning bidders who do not pay.

Shipping insurance protects only the seller. It does not matter to you if it is insured. If the item is damaged and insured, YOU have to make the claim but the SELLER gets the money, and YOU have to send back the damaged item at YOUR expense for PayPal to reverse charges. It is the seller's responsibility to pack the item so it is not damaged. You have no control over this.

I accidentally cut out most of my post..
Unpaid case+nonpayment strike= seller keep the item without any fee or neg feedback.
Sorry =( they don't let them leave feedback while the case is open.

Don't go thru the usual complains etc, when you open a case or leave them a neg feedbacks..some sellers might get creative...you have to file a police report etc if the seller decide to mail you a box of sand.
Pay for the item with a credit card when things don't work out you can just call your credit card company and charge back.
That works most of the time and is the reason alot of people stopped selling on ebay.

My problem is that after repeated emails, the seller won't send me an invoice, and ignores my emails. His phone number is no good. I don't know the total. That's why I'm suspicious of him. Once I get the total, then I can pay him. What my question is how to send ebay an email instead of talking to someone in the Philippines or India?

You can't. Have to call. But you will not get anywhere. The best thing is to pay through Paypal, then open a case. EBay always sides with the buyer.

When you win a auction, doesn't it give you the option to pay now? My auctions always does this.

I can only speak from experience of UK Ebay, but like Amberola I have always had the "Pay Now" option when making a purchase.

Even without that option there is the "Send Money" facility on your PayPal account, with space to attach a message making it clear what the payment is for. Once you have paid for the item it is yours.

Some sellers ask buyers to await an invoice before paying, often to enable them to calculate combined postage for multiple purchases, but that does not appear to be the case here.

Some unscrupulous sellers have been suspected of withdrawing items after sale, claiming that they have been "accidentally" damaged, then after a discreet interval they mysteriously re-appear..........
