Reproducer Gizmo's & Gadget's
Thanks to a newer member, I was able to add an interesting piece(s) to the collection. After a light cleaning....I thought a thread showing all the different "gizmo's & gadget's" that were offered to customers of disc and cylinder machine reproducer's would be a cool thing. Lets see what you got. Remember....just add on's to reproducer's only.

That is a nifty oddity.
Does it work reasonably well?
One like yours recently sold on eBay, but I don't ever recall seeing types 2 & 3 listed in that advertisement.
Jerry B. recently sold another manufacturers' version, equally as interesting...

I'm sure the following "add on" is not exactly the kind of input you were hoping for

Here is (I believe) the type 2 listed in the advertisement above as found on one of the Victor V's in my collection purchased years ago as well as a video on my YouTube channel where I feature it along with one of my favorite Gene Greene (The Ragtime King) Victor records being played. - DougRoaring20s wrote:I don't ever recall seeing types 2 & 3 listed in that advertisement.
This is a shortened version of the video below:

A fascinating record, similar in style to this one recorded for Pathé during Greene's tour of England in 1912/13.
Unfortunately this old technophobe has neither the knowledge nor the hardware to post on YouTube, but here at least are the pictures :

What a great "gadget" Doug. Can you also show us the other "gizmo" that is also on that Exhibition. Looks like a lower/lift handle?.
A neat ad James. Believe it or not....I haven't tried to play it yet. So far I just placed it on a Vic. 3. Because the face is covered....I am just going to leave the gaskets alone.
Hey members of cylinder machine's......where are all though's "add on's" for your reproducer's....I'm expecting to see some weight mods, volume controls,etc.... by various inventors of the past.
George P!!!.....where are you???...

Re: Reproducer Gizmo's & Gadget's
While we're talking about gadgets and add-ons to reproducers.... I'm wondering if anyone can give me info on this Exhibition I picked up. It looks in all ways like a usual Exhibition except the diaphragm is a solid color. I assumed someone had replaced it at some point, so I started into what I thought would be a normal rebuild. What I found behind the diaphragm was a u-shaped groove where I should have seen the printed "Exhibition" and manufacturing info. It is extremely well-done. Very smooth. Sorry the pictures aren't clearer. Has anyone come across this before??
Thanks-
Brad

Adaptor to play normal records on a Diamond Disc machine. It has a volume control in it.
Can't make out the name, but I can see Union No. 1(?). Pat'd Dec 6 1904. Others Pending.
