Aurora Record Company

Post by gramophone78 »

Here is a label rarely seen. It was a "house brand" label for a major Canadian department store "Eaton's". Not many around because they were pressed as the depression started. They are also pressed with a very poor material and like many "Paramount's" are very noisy (using a Victor VE matrix #36-105 A/B). I found a great little stack of these labels.
This record by Jimmie Smith has two real neat Blue Grass/Hillbilly style tunes.

This is according to... http://www.geneautry.com/
When Gene Autry was first making records in the 1930s, he recorded songs on several labels under different names; Jimmy Smith, Gene Johnson, Tom Long, Jimmy Dodds, Sam Hill, Overton Hatfield, Clayton & Green.
