Question about Victrola Album Letters

Post by barnettrp21122 »

I'm wondering if the Victrola XVII and XVIII models had the same album letter configurations.
Here is what my XVII looks like:

Also, what would the 12-inch size "A" and "R" albums been used for-a period cabinet, maybe? Thanks!

Yes, the Victrola XVII and XVIII have the same album configuration.

I believe that the 12" A is used on certain of the standard console Victrolas where the 12" albums are on the left. 12" P, Q, R, S and T are used in Victrola XVIs that have a top shelf for 10" albums and a bottom shelf for 12" albums. According to the Victor Data Book this would be all XVIs type H and later, although I suppose that these 10-page albums would also fit in the earlier type E, F and G if the original albums were not available.

Thanks, Silvertone! Next time I'll have to study my own Victor Data Book a little more closely!.

Yes, but by the time the XVII was re-numbered the 130, they changed the configuration to this:

Sorry about the sideways photo, this seems to be unavoidable with my iphone :(

EDIT - Now it works. Never had to do the "save" thing before!

As stated above. The 17 & 18 had the same album configuration. The correct position for them is shown in my pic. Both models had a 10" "P" album. Therefore, if missing.....hard to locate in decent condition. BTW, the owners manual is not easy to find either.

If you open the photos on your computer and click save before uploading, they will be right side up. 8-)

I have three extra albums, a red "O" a red "R" and a red "Q" if anyone needs them, or one of them - decent condition, not perfect. You can have for free.
