"Tape-Mitter"
I want to get a am transmitter and the Tape-Mitter is the only one I can find but the ones on ebay thy are $50! Anyone know where I can get one for cheaper because I just bought a Victor RE-45 and am getting it sent out to get restored and I would like to be able to listen to some old songs over the radio.

I bought a couple of them six years ago from a dealer in Canada. He had a new old stock of them for sale. The Tape-Mitters then where $14.95 each plus postage of $11.95 for the first one and $4.00 extra for the second one.
A few weeks later when I wanted to order some more for a friend of mine he wrote me back, that he had incredible response from the sales of them from all over the world and doubled his prices. Apparently these units are beyond that nowadays.
I kept one of them for myself. They do work to a certain degree but I have to say that these are technically quite inferior. There is a lot of frequency drift and at some radios you will have to place it directly beside the antenna to hear anything. The price of $15, even with lofty shipping charges from Canada was alright for what it is, but already $30 a piece is way too much for that.
Instead of this device, I can highly recommend the entry level AM1C AM Transmitter Kit by Ramsey for $35. I got one for a another friend a few years ago and he is still very pleased with it. Compared to the Tape-Mitter, the AM1C is really way better. They also have the AM25 for $100, which is microprocessor controlled to eliminate any drift, but the AM1C will likely have the best value for you:

Antique Electronics Supply Co in Tempe Arizona was selling a DIY kit based on an Emerson "wireless phonograph adapter" originally sold in the late 1930's - essentially a low-powered AM transmitter with RCA-plug input from the electric phonograph and would broadcast to any AM radio in the house that was tuned to the transmitter's frequency ( adjustable, to avoid local stations ).
I bought one about ten years ago, and am still planning to assemble it and put it to use...
