I have a Columbia BK with the 2 minute Lyric reproducer. The reproducer would have had a stepped up mica diaphragm but was missing, so I ordered a regular mica diaphragm, and it has some blasting and buzzing on louder passages, particularly loud band records and Mixed Quartet singers when their voice carry high. The gaskets and stylus were also changed. I then decided to just install a copper diaphragm with no difference in sound quality. Is there a trick to these? or is this typical of a Lyric reproducer.
Makes me think my Edison C is better.

Re: Columbia Lyric 2 Reproducer blasts
A properly tuned lyric ought to sound as good as the Edison. Factors that might affect the blasting or buzzing:
1. Tightness of the retaining ring
2. Oversized holes that the wire link passes through
3. Strength of the tension spring
