Thanks John. That is exactly what I had been hoping was available when I started this topic. May I ask what size (mm) pin punch you use? I don't have my micrometer handy to measure one of the original DD pins. Once I know which size to order I'm going to order one and try it out. The price is very reasonable too. - Doug

Doug

I don't remember off the top of my head. When I get home tonight, I'll check it out and let you know.

Hope this helps.

This punch works! Make sure you order the 0.70mm size. It can be safely driven through the stylus bar hole, pushing the pin out far enough so that final removal is a snap.

Thanks for providing this info. I've worked on two reproducers already with no headaches! :D

Awesome! Thanks Bob. Now that I know the correct size pin punch I'm going to order one as well. I have quite a few Edison DD reproducers that have been sitting around on a shelf for years waiting for me to work on them. But removing that confounded stylus bar pin has always been the hold up. Once I have this pin punch I can move forward with them.

Is that stylus pin tapered?

No, in my experience, it isn't, just very tight at times.

Thank you, Bob, and John. I have just read your posts and have directly gone to the site and ordered the pin punch. After all these years of fighting with these pins; I feel so stupid. Thanks again, Mike

Well, I ordered my pin punch and it arrived today. I grabbed one of my DD reproducers that needs the stylus bar removed...and...the dang pin broke within 5 minutes. I didn't feel I was mishandling it or using brute force. I called Esslinger and explained what happened. The customer service rep basically told me sorry for your luck. You will need to order another pin and pay shipping if you want a replacement. Yippee! Blahhh blahh blahh... Thankfully, there is a set screw in the tiny handle that permits replacement of the pins. My advice if you order one is to be extra careful and order extra pins! The pins bend pretty easily. But the good news is that these will work if your DD pin isn't hopelessly jammed in the shoulders of the stylus bar weight.

Assuming you paid via credit card, call your credit card company and ask if the purchase was eligible for their loss/damage protection plan, which virtually every credit card has these days. Your purchase may be too small to be covered, but it's worth a shot.
