Herzog Half Barrel Question - Door removal

Post by Ripduf1 »

Does anybody know how to remove the door on a Herzog half barrel WITHOUT taking the top or bottom off? There is a screw that I show in the attached picture, that I would expect that if it is loosened, the door hinge pin would fall either into the door post (if upside down), or into the foot if right side up. Neither is successful for me. Am I correct and the hinge pin is simply stuck?

If no what is the screw for? Setting door height only? Which doesn't seem to have any movement regardless.

Any guidance is appreciated.

John

Loosening that screw will allow the pin to rise up into the door. You will have to invert the unit to allow gravity to do so. You won't lose it in the door or the foot. You may have to spray some WD40 in the screw hole and between the bottom of the door and bottom of the cabinet to disolve any gunk that may be holding the pin in place.

Brad, thanks for confirming. It seems like that should happen but the pin isn't falling into the door. Ill lube it up and try again!

Thanks!
