Well today made a deal and a new friend. Meet Roy at his home in Norman Oklahoma and he and I made a trade. I came home with his Oak "L" door that he posted about earlier. I am in for loads of stripping old paint, and a refinish job. The machine can be a nice one, but is going to require a lot of work. Here are the items I am looking for at the present:
1. lower door knob ("L" door) it is .975 in diameter and 1.02 long was gold plated only need one have one.
2. lid prop approx. 8" long and was gold plated. It was bent almost double and broken on the end.
3. lower drawer. was missing
4. and of course all the lettered albums, only has letter "A" (I know this is going to be long shot)
Thanks for any and all help.

Re: WANTED: "L: door parts needed
I have found the lid prop and knobs and maybe the lower drawer. I would still like to find the albums if possible.

I would assume that the "L" door took the hard sided album book type holders if that makes sense...This is my first "L" door.

You need the boxes. Stay tuned, another member is looking for some as well and I may be able to help you both get a start, at least!

I have a complete set of the Album boxes from an L-door. I also have the wreath key. these came from an auction, but sadly no machine. I keep thinking about selling them.

Re: WANTED: "L: door parts needed
Well I have found the lid prop., the lower drawer and thought I had found the one knob I needed in a group I bought off of the yankee trader but I could only use one knob for the back door. I am still needing a lower door knob. Hope someone can be of help. I would buy a matching pair if need be. Thanks for any and all help.
Yes I still am searching for the hard albums to fill the bottom.
I should be posting some pictures of the restoration this next week.
Regards, and "Happy" Thanksgiving everyone.

Re: WANTED: "L: door parts needed
Dave,
This won't be of much immediate help, but I looked for over a year for the albums for my VTLA. A full set finally came up on eBay and I had to pay through the nose to get them, but after a year, I was willing to do so. They aren't in that great shape, but it is a full set and the look presentable. I see them come up from time to time on eBay as a single album, and I have purchased a few that way, then traded them off later.
The advice I received from more than one forum member was, buy a machine with the albums and sell the machine-it would be cheaper and you'd get a full set.
Good luck with the restoration-they are really neat machines. The one we have was my wife's G-Grandfather's and had been through a house fire at my wife's grandmother's house. Really messed up, but really worth restoring. I will check my knobs and see if one is what you would need. I also have a key if needed.

Thanks so much Matt, I finally found a key so I have that. The lower knob plus the albums will finish it up.
