Stantons

Post by fonograph »

Anybody going to Stantons auction this week? I've never been, but I've heard you can get some fairly rare machines at less than market prices. I'd love to have some pictures if possible for those who are unable to attend.

Stantons does have a long-standing reputation as a major phonograph auction house. I haven't been in years and wish I lived a thousand miles closer. With a soft economy and a glut of collections being sold, you might indeed find bargains on common machines, but the "creme de la creme" will probably always fetch premium prices wherever it is sold, the Multiphone being one example.

If I was, I would be clamoring over this item (though I do see them pop up on Ebay from time to time): :rose:

Wished it was more centrally located in the country. Too far to drive for me.

I'm planning for all three days. I have to admit, I have the advantage of living only 50 miles away, so driving there every day is not a problem.

In the course of my business, I must deal with auction houses all across the country on a frequent basis. In my opinion, Steve Stanton runs the fairest, most honest auction of all, and nobody offers more cooperation. He is a "YES" man, and will work with any bidder or seller to provide the utmost service, truth and satisfaction. He is #1 in my book.

And no, he hasn't paid me to say this!

Raphael,

I agree totally.

My father and I have attended Steve's auctions for many years but have never been one the "big bidders". We would usually hover in the shadows. Still, when my father passed, Steve's expression of genuine sympathy was very appreciated and will not be forgotten.
