Bucket List Columbia

Post by ChuckA »

After many years of looking, I finally bit the bullet and bought a machine I have wanted for a long time:

A Columbia AD, it's in one of the best looking cabinets that Columbia produced. Very similar to the AO and AW styles.
Six springs, plays both standard and concert size records. Typical of most late Columbia machines it needs some work on the frozen pot metal
sleeve on the trunnion assembly and a few minor fixes. And of course the mandatory clean and polish of the nickel and aluminum works.

That is a really beautiful machine. Congratulations! Does it really have six springs? Please consider presenting it as a Featured Phonograph when you have it finished.

Great machine Chuck! From the photo, it looks to be in great shape already. I love the AD also. I finally got one last year. Was this the one at the Stanton auction?

Yes, it has six springs and is awesome engineering to look at. You don't know what a real motor is until you see one of those babies.
