Re: Silvertone in oak
Thanks again guys for the nice comments, I appreciate it.
Rebuilding the Silvertone sound box is a bit like doing the Columbia #6 with the threaded gasket retaining ring but with hollow tube instead of solid gasket. The sound is not bad at all.

Mike - are there any metal tags on the back-side of the cabinet ?
My oak Silvertone has a small steel tag tacked to the back upper rail of the cabinet, right underneath the piano-hinge for the lid.
It is embossed with the letters " B V " .
The tag is perhaps ¼" high x ¾" long.
My cabinet is similar to yours, expect the front corner posts are plain rectilinear, no carvings, and the grille is plainer, basically three vertical ovals side by side, with a fleur-de-lys in the center of each.

Frank,
The only metal tag on the back of mine is a two inch long narrow one that has the letter B, and number 15809. That's it no sign of another tag or any evidence of another anywhere. Mike

Mine has a serial number tag on the back, and below that a very small one reading PFC, which I am told is Pooley Furniture Co.
