FOR SALE: Charleston on Edison DD - SOLD

Post by gemering »

Here is a great playing copy of the Holy Grail of Edison Diamond Discs.
Both sides are conservatively Vg++.
This disc has been in my personal collection for the past decade.
Record comes with new white sleeve plus two different original Edison sleeves.
$160 plus a few dollars for actual shipping charges.
I do not charge for boxing/bubble wrap/or bogus handling.
I will pack this record for safe arrival!
Happy Holidays!
Gene

Why is it so hard to find recordings of the Charleston even on 78, let alone DD? The number must have been a best seller in it's day, so were all the records worn out and/or discarded?

In well over 50 years collecting here in the UK, I have never seen a copy of the Charleston for sale. It seems that they are rare even in the USA.

It is interesting that such an "anthem" of the roaring twenties is not easy to find, especially on diamond disc.
FYI;
Several years ago I put a copy with a severe rim chip into the first groove on ebay with close-up photo and detailed explanation of the damage.
I was hoping to get $50 to $100 dollars for it.
The auction ended at $311.00!!!
