The common Victor VV-IV

Post by briankeith »

I have a question about the fairly common small Victor VV-IV that I could not find in my "Look for the Dog" book. (unless I missed it some how) I had up onto recently two versions of the VV-IV - one with wood slats behind the doors and another with no slats at all. Over the holidays I picked up yet another VV-IV with metal slats. The metal slats do look original to the machine but do you think they were made and added to a machine that had no slats behind the doors at all? (an option or aftermarket accessory) I am very curious about this "slat issue"......

Hi:

The VV-IV did come with metal slats for a short while.

If you could post a picture of your machine that may help us to identify.

I have a feeling that you have one of the VV-IV with original metal slats.

I think that the one with no slats has had the metal ones removed.

The Victor Data Book is good for identifying the variations in Victor models. The Victrola IV variations with metal slats, wood slats and no slats are all described.
