A New Year's Present from The Antique Phonograph Society

Happy New Year, everyone!

Several weeks ago, I alluded to a surprise on the way for those who admire, enjoy, and are otherwise interested in Brunswick. I'm happy to announce that, through the hard work and generosity of Mr. R.J. Wakeman, The Antique Phonograph Society has made available on our website

www.antiquephono.org

his entire (heretofore unpublished) 380-page book entitled,

Brunswick Phonographs, Panatropes, and Records.

Simply go to the Antique Phonograph Society website (http://www.antiquephono.org), click on the "Articles" header, then select "Book Feature" from the drop-down menu. Click on the cover image and the entire book will then download in a few moments.

We are most grateful to Mr. Wakeman for his outstanding research and compilation on Brunswick - one of the major brands in the North America. We are also pleased and proud that Mr. Wakeman chose to make this significant resource available to collectors and sound historians through the Antique Phonograph Society. We think when you see Mr. Wakeman's book, you'll agree that this is the "bible" for Brunswick.

We hope those interested in Brunswick Phonographs, Panatropes, and Records will enjoy the book, and we trust that it will serve as a valuable resource for decades to come.

As of now, Mr. Wakeman informs me that there are no plans to publish the book in hard copy. I too would prefer traditional pages and covers, but I'm pleased to have the work in any format!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, for all the hard work that putting together a book like this R.J. Thank you George for making this happen! I too would like a hard copy-But as you already put it however we get it we will take it. I wonder how many cartridges my Epson printer will take to print this?

I can't get my glasses right to see books anymore, so PDF files and such are a great blessing to my failing eyesight. Thanks, many many thanks, to Mr.Wakeman for this gift! Brunswick made excellent records and phonos, including what I consider the very best portable of all: the Model 109 of 1929.

For those who want a hard copy, you can download the PDF onto a memory stick and take it to your local Kinko's (I guess they're now called Fedex Office) and have it printed and bound. I'm not sure how cost effective that is, however, but it is exceptionally easy and likely to be less than printing on a home computer.
