WANTED: Need Crank and Escutcheon for VV-IX -buy or trade

Post by mattrx »

I purchased a VV-IX in October (Serial # 11640 with an "E" designaton). It was missing the reproducer, crank, and escutcheon. I had purchased a IX motor, name plate, reproducer, and most other metal parts as a lot a while back (Serial # contemporary with my machine) in hopes of finding the right machine for them later. This machine worked out to be the right fit-mostly...

My parts lot did not contain a crank escutcheon. The "shadow" has these dimentions- 1 & ⅜ inches center to center on the mounting screw holes, and the overall width of the escutcheon is 1.5 inches. No extra holes, or evidence that there ever had been any other holes.

The crank that came with the parts lot seems to be larger in diameter than a correct one would be. The "shadow" on the case shows a much larger diameter escutcheon than I am used to seeing. I purchased a repro escutcheon from a parts dealer that fits perfectly. The screw holes line up and the "shadow" is covered perfectly with the reproduction. But, I had to really ream out the repro escutcheon to make my crank fit thru it.

A forum member sent me an escutcheon that we both thought would fit. It turned out to be the same size at that on my Vic III, and Vic I, and early VV-VI. It was not, however, the same size as the one my VV-IX evidently requires.

So, I would like to purchase an original escutcheon for my machine (larger diameter), but I will evidently need the correct crank for my IX as well. I have wanted a table model with a lid for a while, and this one fit my budget and turned out looking pretty good to me, but I like to have all original parts when at all possible. Any advice, or the sale of parts is appreciated.

If anyone needs any of the parts I did not use (including a complete motor-2 springs in 2 barrels without speed indicator needle, tone arm & bracket, name plate, etc) please p.m. me and we can work something out.

There are also 2 sets of holes where a dealer tag once had been attached inside the lid, and outside above the horn doors. I would love to find a tag or tags to place there.

Thanks,

Matt
