I was able to download it onto an iPAD. Not sure why that worked but not to my MAC. On first glance an incredibly detailed, comprehensive work. Thanks to those who made it available!phonogfp wrote:Bruce,Valecnik wrote:I followed the instructions but am unable to get the book to download. I'm sorry you're having trouble with the download. I clicked on the link you provided and immediately got a download of the book. I don't know much about computers, so can't offer any intelligent advice. Perhaps a computer-savvy member of the Forum can help?![]()

Sounds like some of the issues with accessing the book may be due to pdf viewer browser plugins or configurations. Optionally you can download the file directly without viewing it in the browser. Navigate to the following link:
http://www.antiquephono.org/brunswick-p ... j-wakeman/
Once the page loads right click on the image of the book cover and choose 'Save Target As' or 'Save Link As' or 'Download Linked File' (the terminology varies depending on your browser). This should bring up a dialogue box prompting you to download the pdf file to your device.
Hope this helps!

For those having problems with a download of the PDF file, here is a self-extracting EXE located in my Dropbox that is intended to extract a ZIP file and create a PDF to the location you specify on your PC. See if this helps with your issue.

Hmmmm. Maybe a download issue. I did have a couple Firefox users report similar problems in the last month. Turns out the pdf files were downloading in the background to the default download folder but they weren't aware of what was happening. I changed the download option to 'Always ask where to download files' so they would get the dialogue box asking where to save the file. I think an update caused the change. The book pdf is about 96MB so may take some time to download depending on Internet speed.Lucius1958 wrote:Still gives me the same old gray page…![]()
I've just started perusing the book. What a great resource to make available!

To assist your efforts in downloading this book for offsite printing, you can try the following link.
When asked to Download or Open, choose Download, then the Save / Save As Option.
You should save the file to a thumb drive / flash drive / memory stick, etc. and take to your local Office Supply store (e.g. FedEx Office, Staples, Officemax, Office Depot) for printing / binding.

Re: A New Year's Present from The Antique Phonograph Society
I think the problem you are having with the download has to do with using a Mac, as opposed to a Windows computer. If you are using Safari for a browser, when you click the link, you will get a gray page... UNTIL the file loads into Safari. This is a 90+ megabyte file, so it may take awhile to appear in the browser. Look at the address bar at the top of your browser and you should see that it is like a "gas gauge", which is gradually filling up. When the bar reaches the far right corner of your address bar, you should see the front page and be able to scroll down in the book. To download it on your Mac computer, move your mouse to the bottom center of the page and a small window will pop up - click on the download button - far right icon and it will download the entire book to your computer... Hope this helps.
