Apparently my wife had stopped by our only antique dealer in downtown Scranton, a good friend who is a regular stop & chat.

My wife inquired if I "had my eye on anything"...


I was quite surprised to see it sitting in the hallway this evening.


Needs a good cleaning, a belt, and some TLC, but a nice old machine.

Uh-oh... Wolfe, your comment sent me scrambling to the on-line dictionaries, to check on the definitions and usages of the word "token"... apparently, it is not as benign a term as I had thought...

My understanding of the term, and intent in its use as an adjective was to describe the antiques dealer as a rarity in our town: we pretty-much just have the one antique shop.

A very nice shop, and the dealer is a great person.

However, a closer look at the term "token" suggests that the term is socially charged, having ethnic and social connotations / implications that I did NOT intend...

So... I will ammend my prose in the original statement.

Congratulations on the new machine, would love to see pics when you can.

As for your word usage, I see no reason to have changed it, but it is certainly your decision to do so. We have become a hypersensitive society in my opinion. I was never promised as a child that I would grow up into a world that would never offend or irritate me. And as my mother used to say, "People don't make you mad, you let yourself get mad at them". If we are looking for a reason to be offended then we will be, if not....not.

I'm interested in seeing a photo of the Superior horn. I'm not familiar with that particular brand.

I was only being a token facetious, sorry. I too never realized that such a word would lead to grief.
