Victrola 50 Portable Stands

About 25 years ago I bought a Victrola 50 with stand. I always thought someone simply had made the stand but it looks exactly like the Unico Stand shown on the "old crank" website so now I think it must have been a unofficial accessory. Has any one else seen these types of stands before? Has anyone ever seen one in oak? I have an Oak 50 which I would love to have a stand for. Perhaps I need to fabricate it myself? Any clue as to the value of such an item?

Congratulations, I love the stand. Ever since I saw the Unico stand on the old crank website I've been thinking about building one for my oak VV-50 just following the picture. Should you decide to rebuild yours I would appreciate any measurements, plans, drawings, etc you might want to share

Hello. I am in the final step of building a reproduction stand, which I have made out of oak. I am building it for a neighbor of mine, who collects radio's, soda machines, gumball machines, etc. If interested, I am now going to build this stand upon request. The wood type can be modified as well, though it seems to me that oak may be the most common.

A friend of mine liked the design so well he rescaled it and built one for his Diamond Disc A-80. It looks really sharp.

That is great! If you do build them, maybe you could make them in knock down form for easier shipping. My machine is Mahogany, but Birch would be a good match.

I love your homemade stand and would buy one in a flash, but I agree you should offer it in a knock-down version so it can be shipped without breaking the UPS bank I am sure it is easy to re-assemble. Plus leave it unfinished so buyers can make up their own stain to get a perfect match to their own VV-50. Let us all know what you think ??

I will be glad to make another stand, if ordered, as an unassembled kit. The stand that I posted has already been purchased.

I did find in making this stand that there is a need to do a final sanding, after completing the assembly. It would be necessary to assemble and glue the stand with clamps, as the holes on the cross braces and legs are drilled and set up with glued round pegs. After assembly, another sanding will be necessary before staining and varnishing.

I looked into purchasing birch in Georgia and maple is the closest wood type available. I generally work with red oak, white oak, cherry, ash, poplar, hickory, maple and birch. Cost will vary according to wood type. I can package and ship the stand kit. The shipping cost will be in addition to the cost of the stand.

For anyone who is interested in having this VV50 stand built, assembled and finished (stain and varnish), the measurements are:
Height- 28 inches
Width- 12 ⅛ inches
Length- 17 ¾ inches
The weight is approximately 12 pounds.

The posted picture on my earlier post gives a good view of this assembled stand, before it is stained and varnished. This one is made of red oak.
