Edison Triumph model D mandrel and mandrel shaft
Does anyone know if the mandrel and mandrel shaft for a triumph model D is the same size as the one on a model Edison Home phonograph? I am guessing they are different; but, I need one for a triumph I am trying to restore and cannot find one from a triumph.

I believe that, model for model (Model A, Model B, Model C, etc.), the Home and Triumph mandrels/mainshafts are interchangeable. At least the 4-minute Amberol Attachments were labeled that way... Or does that blue pencil mark specify "Home?"
(The Triumph and Alva mandrels would definitely be the same, as would the Balmoral and Conqueror. I'm not sure why that check mark is there.)

Some years ago, I was restoring an Edison Model E Triumph. I thought a Home mandrel and shaft would work, to replace a banged up mandrel. The Home parts, shaft, and feescrew were to short. My guess is the check mark is for a Home.

You could be right, Harvey. Yet, I've exchanged Model B mandrels/mainshafts between a Home and Triumph and they were perfectly compatible.
Were you attempting to use a Model E Home mandrel/feedscrew?

George,
I was using a Home Amberol attachment upgrade for my Model E Triumph. Maybe that's why it didn't fit.

Harvey,
If it was for a Model D/E/F (I think they all used the same upper castings) it seems like it would have worked. I've wondered about this compatibility question for some time.
I wish someone who knows for sure would chime in!
