Here is my 35.00 CL VV-XI G model

Post by ejackett »

Well I've gone about as far as I'm going with it, used the Howards restore a finish on and rebuilt the reproducer, put a new spring on the semi auto brake, bought a needle cup and a key (rebuilt the lock mech.) So now it goes to my brothers house as I had promised to sell it to him when I was done. I'm posting some
pic's and 1 of my XVI and the XI together. Sorry if they are a little dark but we don't have much sun lately in NY !

Is that the original felt? It doesn't look like it. If it's not original, I would replace it. Other than that, it looks great!

Yup Garrett it's the original and it's not really in bad shape, it's all original except for the rebuild of the reproducer, the needle cup and the spring on the auto break. Pretty much as I got it except for my cleaning.

Good save, Gene !

Getting a machine so cheap is almost better than getting it for free... ;)

Looks pretty decent... is the finish red mahogany ?

Congratulations on a good find and a good save !

Thanks to all you guys for responding....this is a great forum with great people and you all are very knowledgable and a good source for info. I love these old machines and when I see the ones that have been abused, it's such a shame, then I see the ones that have been saved by all of us and it's really great to see them. I can't say all of the younger generation, but a lot of them have no idea what they are getting rid of when they clean out gramma's & granpa's attic and sell them for next to nothing or worse yet put them out to trash collector. I have 5 now and hope to get more.
