Gakken Gramophone

Post by Patty »

Hi,
I am wondering is anyone here has bought a Gakken Gramophone kit. I am quite intrigued by them and thinking of getting one.

I have one. It's fun to build and the kit allows you to experiment different materials (for example, paper, metal, PVC, etc.) as the sound box diaphragm, different weight for the pressure of the needle, or different angles of the needle. However, it's all plastic except the spring and screws, so do not expect a good sound. Also, the single spring motor has very limited playing time. (Not enough for most 12" records!)
