Golden Gate Orchestra - "Brown Eyes, Why Are You Blue?"

Post by Paal1994 »

Here is the Golden Gate Orchestra (California Ramblers) playing "Brown Eyes, Why Are You Blue?" on BA #5069. From November 1925.
This is one of my favorite dance band Blue Amberols from my collection.

Thanks for posting your cylinder. You have actually solved a little mystery. I do also have the cylinder and the diamond disc. The start of the song on the cylinder sounds like one groove is skipping - unlike the diamond disc.

I tried is excessively to get the cylinder transferred without that skipping part. But now I hear that yours does sound the very same as mine. It looks like it was really recorded that way!

Here's to compare both electrically:

I have two copies of this cylinder. They both sond just the same exept for a needle dig. (The video is the one without skipping but the skipping would be on the 1:57 mark if it was my other copy.)

Thanks for linking both DD and BA! I think it's quite interesting to listen to DD's and BA's of the same song.

Paal.
