My New Vic-tory Room~ for love of music!

Post by LadyHawke »

I have over the last few years, found out I have more Victors and sound equipment, than space. :D I consulted a builder, but he suggested go, "up" not "out"! So, after much debate and extreme procrastination, my "VIC-tory Room", lol, has finally happened!! I am so happy to go sit down and take it in.. the history, the models, the stores they were in, and think about the families which had each and every machine. :) I know they are probably gone now, but the happiness they shared around each machine, has touched so many lives. Who were they? What did they do for a living? How much was the money it cost to get the machine to them? Was it Christmas?
I love music. One wall is current sound, the other, Victor sound.
I am sentimental. I started not to share this, but then, as usual, I changed my mind. I would want to see your collections and rooms, and have enjoyed doing so!!! Thank you for sharing with me.
So in humble respect to the "collector with a heart", here is mine!! I hope you can enjoy it with me! hug! LH

I agree about the phonos. I can see a thousand (now departed) hands of joy flinging open the cabinet doors, to avail yet again the musical treasures within. They'll never be completely gone. You can feel their presence all around the room.

Very impressive! I have to admit, my eyes are drawn to the electronics! As I said, "Very impressive!"

That room looks like a lot of fun. :)

Interesting thoughts - I too have always ponderer about the people who spent their hard earned money to buy a talking machine and their families sitting around the Victrola singing along to the records. Where are they now - who were they - where did they buy the machine - how did it wind up in my living room 100 years later - things like that. A little sad sometimes those thoughts......

How very...lovely! You're certainly in the top 1% of collectors! Personally, though, I've never liked putting my floor model machines high up on shelves, with another shelf of machines just inches above them. I find it makes playing them inconvenient.

Awesome! A room even E.R. Johnson would be proud of. Congratulations!
