Hello, Gentlemen,
I am in the process of having some new Paillard GGR 255 motor springs manufactured by a clockwork spring supplier that once made springs for Collaro. I will have a limited run of these springs made for myself, and anyone else who expresses interest. These springs will be like the originals in every way.
So, if you are interested in spare springs for your Paillard GGR 255 motor in your Expert or EMG gramophone, now is the time to let me know. I can be reached by private message or garret.girmus "at" gmail.com. I will have further details for you in the coming days.
Sincerely,
Garret G.

Sounds like a very good move Garret, please keep us informed how you get on. None of my current EMGs have Paillard motors - but in future... ?

If you know the exact dimensions of the springs you are having made, perhaps you should post them, as there is probably several Paillard motors which used the same size spring.
Keepin' it real.

Hello, Gentlemen,
The factory is still searching for spring stock. They have a significant number of leftover springs from the time that they had a substantial catalog of spares. So, first they are looking to see if they have any completed springs. If that doesn't work, they will look at having some springs made from available spring stock.
However, if the factory doesn't have any suitable spring stock, we can look into having an order of springs made up. However, the cost could be quite high. The factory would need to order custom spring stock, with a minimum order of 150kg. This costs about 1000 quid. Then, the factory would need to set up the proper tooling to make the springs. Even with a proposed run of 30 springs, I would need to ask $50-60 for spring. Is this cost too high? The springs would be made to the same exact specifications as the original.

I think you would be lucky to be able to sell for between $50-60 but that price would be more than acceptable to me and I should order several. The specification/quality is, however, vital and I should need reassurance on that point. Many thanks for your efforts.

Graham,
Thank you for the encouragement. These inquiries have taken virtually all of my remaining free time outside of my coursework, so I'm really hoping that I can work something out.

Re: Call for Interest: Paillard GGR 255 Motor Springs
My first solid try at having springs made hasn't borne much fruit. This morning, the factory with which I was in contact told me that they have shipped my sample Paillard spring back to me in the mail. However, I am still awaiting a quote! Maddening.
That said, through a contact in the U.K. who knows a Swiss collector, I have found that there is a Paillard museum in Switzerland, and a technician there indicated to me via email that he may be able to procure replacements.
Please stay tuned.
