Found a "few" records yesterday....

Post by HisMastersVoice »

I know a guy who has an antique shop near me, and he mentioned last weekend when I stopped in that they were holding an estate sale soon and there was a ton of 78s in the basement. Well, we've all heard that before, and it ends up being a few stacks of red label Columbias or something. Well, not this time!

Behold, friends:

Among the 5 crates of records I came home with were a few "Pre Dog" Victor Monarchs, red Canadian Victors, probably every Bluebird ever recorded by Glenn Miller, and loads of other great records. I could have stayed there for days looking through everything, and I may end up going back before it ends. If anyone is near the Detroit area (Bloomfield Hills) I urge you to go check this out!

I get the feeling that the 78's contain a lot of common stuff. I mean there's a whole box of Vaughn Monroe and Freddy Martin records there, I wonder who's going to want those. :D

But surely there are treasures lurking. Best of luck.

I guess the guy must have up and died.

All I can say is WOW. I wish I was near but I am in NJ. I'm looking for a 10" Victor album with 16 pages with the letter "H". I can see lots of the Victor ablobs with the brass rings in the picture. Is there any way to contact someone there to see if there might be one there?

Thanks

Rich Gordon

I can assure you, there was some very good finds amongst all those boxes of common stuff. I came out quite happy. And yes, the gentleman who owned the collection passed away.

You may want to try calling their store (Vogue Vintage) as they are the ones hosting the sale. The number is: 248-546-1555

If so, I'd be happy to pick it up from the store and ship it to you if you can arrange for it to be held and paid for.
