Believe it or not, the best thing I have found for a stubborn frozen mandrel--especially in a home--is to do the following: motor needs to be taken off and bedplate removed from motor board. Then just stick the bedplate in a plastic grocery bag and stick the whole thing in the freezer for a good 24 hours at a minimum! I guess you could put the whole phonograph, minus the lid, in the freezer--if you have the room! This has worked every time for me--except when I was impatient and didn't leave it in long enough. The swollen bearing will slightly shrink making removal easy! Try this next time and see if it works for you.
