I'm surprised that in a magnified photo, so much curvature of the groove is visible. I would expect the groove to look almost straight since relatively little of its length would be showing. The upper illustration doesn't look much different than real-life!

Of course, there's always the possibility that I'm crazy! ;)

If the photo shows a portion of the disc close to the center, the curvature would naturally be much greater than at the edge.
