In general I think it's awesome that vinyl has some kind of resurgence. I also think it's great that there are easy ways now to record your own records. Not sure about the audio quality though. Funny that they referenced audiophiles in this article. I'm not sure a true audiophile would be too happy with records that have been recorded from compressed mp3 files. I would understand if they would use some loss-less file format, recording analog sound, compressing it into mp3s, and then re-recording it in analog format onto a record does not seem like the audiophile's way to go. Once sound is compressed, information is lost. "Smoothing it out" does not recover that information.

Any time any digitization of an audio signal takes place, there is some "change" of the original. In general this is bad.
