Unusual One-Sided Victor with large spindle hole

I found this unsual Victor record with a large spindle hole - sorta like the type Columbia client machines use. Harmony and Symphony.
I does not appear to have been drilled - looks factory punched out, very smooth hole. Did Victor make these to be played on the larger spindle machines, or did someone carfully alter these records ?? Just very curious, never seen one like this before.........

This was undoubtedly drilled...IMHO...albeit cleanly perhaps by a very sharp, very high speed drill or milling machine.

Can't quite tell, but in the photo you provided it looks like a tiny bit of the title was also nipped off by the large hole.

No, they certainly didn't. A couple of years ago, a friend picked up a box of 78s at an auction for a buck and brought them over to me. About half of them were Standards, the rest were Victor and Columbia single faced discs that had been drilled out and very well done at that. There ended up being some nice records in the box, too, especially the Victors, loads of Collins and Murrays. I couldn't be angry about the whole thing since they were mostly very clean and obviously done at the time they were new. Who could blame them, really, there were some good things put out on client labels, but most of it was outdated material.

About 15 years ago I stopped into a yard sale that had some interesting antiques out on the lawn. After browsing a bit I asked the owner if they had any old records or players. A gentleman brought out a small box with 10 seven inch Berliner records and a few etched label seven inch Zonophone records. Every one had been drilled to fit a Standard Talking Machine - and very poorly at that. Oh the humanity! And all of them were in very nice condition otherwise.
