FOR SALE: Edison Std 'F' w/ model 'S' reproducer - INQUIRE

Post by hexaphone »

FOR SALE: Edison Standard F

I have a beautiful Edison Standard 'F' with (rare) S reproducer.
- 2/4 minute gearing with 2/4 minute reproducer

This one has all the traits of a true F. (not a D converted to a F)

It has the original cygnet horn in great condition, striping is excellent, gear cover is even present as many are missing. I have an extra standard motor to go along with it for "spares". Machine runs, but could use some 'tuning up'. I put a new bearing in it and it turns nicely. An excellent example overall. I saw one sell on ebay for over $3500 recently! That one had a wood grain horn, but this one has a very nice black cygnet horn.

Asking $1500. Anyone interested, I can email or text pics. Just provide email address or number to txt pics. First one who commits to buy gets it. Prefer not to ship, so Union is a great idea!!!

You can send a PM to [email protected]

Thanks
Ron

Ron,

Per your comment: "An excellent example overall. I saw one sell on ebay for over $3500 recently! That one had a wood grain horn,..."

This particular machine that recently sold for an astronomical price (for whatever reason), sold at our show in Charlotte, NC last month for $1,200. It does have a nicely woodgrained horn that was painted by one of our members, who does an excellent job... in fact, he was the one that sold the machine at the show. He couldn't believe that someone actually paid nearly $3,800 for it... The guy who sold it on eBay does a great marketing job, but who would have thought someone would pay that much for an Edison Standard?

Curt,

That seller does do a fantastic job of selling his items! The prices he receives are exceptional.
As a balance to your example that that machine sold for $1200 being representative of the machines value however, I provide the example that a dealer anyone can find on the net recently sold a less rare Std D for between $1595 and $1650 depending on the reproducer (C or H). Now, the Std F is the rarest of the Standards and this one comes with the hard to find 2/4 minute S which in itself is worth a couple hundred dollars. One cannot isolate a single example when determining value. I believe my asking price comes right in the mid range of both your and my examples.

Bottom line, asking $1500 for the F w/S reproducer and original condition horn in excellent shape is not out of line. In addition, I am including an extra standard motor in working condition which would be worth $50 - $75 or more.

Ron,
You are totally right, I am not disagreeing with your price as it definitely is in the reasonable range. I just thought that $3,800 was a bit over the top...
