Removing Glue Residue From a Record Duster's Price Sticker?

I just picked up a nice Celuloid Brunswick Record Duster at the Wayne Show.
When I removed the seller's price sticker, some glue residue was left behind on the duster.
Should I use plain dish soap and a damp paper towel, or is rubbing alcohol better for removing the glue?
I don't want to cause more harm than good.

Gene, I use either Goof-Off or lighter fluid. It works great for removing glue residue. It does not damage the surface.

"Goo Gone" works well. You may be able to get a small bottle at Dollar Tree.

On a non-absorbent surface I use margarine. Rub a small amount into the affected area and leave for an hour or two. Remove with a paper towel and if necessary re-treat any remaining deposit. The longer the sticker has been in place, the more difficult it will be to remove.

I will second that. I use it all the time and have never had it damage a finish. It turns the glue into a kind of goo that you can then wipe off. And you can find it all over the place. The home improvement stores, etc. I bought the last bottle at my supermarket.

I've never used Goo-Gone, but I get good results with Ronsonol lighter fluid (naphtha, or Coleman fuel if you can find it---much cheaper by the gallon!).
