That lateral-cut ( "Victor adapter" ) is one of the better ones ( I think ), in that it has a longer arm, and probably gives better tracking...

Many (including the Kent-ish job that came with my C-19) have stubby arms and joints, and do not have convincing tracking geometry.

As for what finish for your Diamond Disc reproducer, while an "oxidized" finish might be "correct", a nickel-plated job will play just as well, if you run across one at an attractive price.

Please post a video of your W-19 in action, if you can !

Fran....I did put an offer in on a set of reproducers and an original box to boot on ebay
waiting to hear if it was accepted, but thanks for letting me know that George may have one,
I just ordered some parts from him last week for a victrola 2-60 portable I have. As soon as I get
descent DD reproducer I will post a video, I have 7 DD records that I got with one the victrola's
I bought awhile back and was wondering what to do with them...now I know, they look in great shape.
As for the grill cloth that was on it, I found some remnants while cleaning it up and it looks as if
the cloth was either a light brownish orange or red anybody know?

You're welcome, Gene.

The reason I suggested George V. is because I just purchased 2 reproducers from him myself. A Graphophone D-1 for the AO I bought from Jerry B. and an Eagle for my polished model B. Both are nicely rebuilt and in very nice condition. I thought the price was reasonable at $189.95 each.

I'm sure you will have no trouble finding a DD for your W-19. And as De Soto Frank, mentioned, a nickel plated one will work as well as any, and they are probably the most plentiful. Finding one with the oxidised finish would be great, but I have no clue how scarce they might be.

Nice find at a good price!

The W19 would have come with a "gun metal" finish, not oxidized. The oxidized finish was only offered with A150 as far as I know. That's good news as gun metal finish is commonly available, offered through the Edisonic era.

Looks like you might also need the wooden frame that goes around the bedplate. That also should not be too hard to find.

Good hunting and good listening!

Valecnik, in the third picture the reproducer end of the horn is shown. Is this not the oxidised version?

Fran,

here are a couple pic showing the coloring of both oxidized and gun metal. I think you can see that the W19 hardware is actually gun metal. People often confuse them but seen together they look quite different.

Be careful about buying a DD reproducer. Some sellers on eBay are advertising rebuilt reproducers having new gaskets and with a new diamond stylus. It sounds very tempting, but the problem is, no one currently makes an acceptable replica of a diamond stylus, including Expert Pickups in England. If you search the threads on this website, you will discover those replica stylii have a bad reputation and will most likely damage your records in short order. We are still waiting for a solution.

Instead, I would buy a reproducer with a good, original stylus from a reputable dealer. I bought a nice one for $100 last year. Gaskets can always be replaced if it has not been overhauled recently. Believe it or not, there are still original NIB (new in box) reproducers floating around out there, even if their finish does not match the style of your machine. For example, some years ago I bought two in gun metal finish and put them back for a rainy day. [No, they are not for sale!] I slipped off the original wrapping string, to peek inside the boxes. They look new. I suppose the stylus bars could be swapped to other reproducers if the finish is that big a deal.

Looks like you got a fairly early DD reproducer there!
