Redoing a horn- suggestions?

Post by estott »

I've stripped a lot of paint off this horn- no possibility of saving any of the original, all I could tell was that it was green with gold striping. The outside is heavily rust spotted and will need an opaque coat, but the inside seems just good enough to try a translucent paint. I could also just remove the remaining paint and put a clear coat over the bare metal.

Exterior is about 40% rust spots. The entire tapered end will need to be replaced as it is very weak.

Still a good bit of paint to remove

you could fix the pits the old fashioned way with lead? that's what they used for cars before Bondo.
