FOR SALE: Columbia BN - $600 - SOLD!

Post by Jerry B. »

I am selling a very nice Columbia BN disk machine. It has new springs and the motor runs smooth and quietly. The machines plays and sounds great. The horn was repainted long ago and it has new felt on the turntable. I am happy to deliver to Union or CAPS at no extra cost. The price is $600. Please email, PM, or call with any questions or interest. It goes to the first person to say "SOLD!". Thanks, Jerry Blais

Do I spy an Edison home in a roll-top desk in the background of some of the photos? I have never seen, or heard of such a thing! :?

Aaron, I'm surprised at you! That's what too much studying for Physics will get you... I know you have this book... :lol:

The "desk" is a Hawthorne & Sheble "The Grand" cabinet and is shown on page 88 of The Talking Machine Compendium. It's true that Columbia products are most commonly found in the larger H&S cabinets ("The Grand", "Nonpareil", etc.) but they could be ordered for any Edison model as well. :)

George, you've thrown off kilter my entire understand of the universe! I have seen many Edison's in cabinets, but never in the "Desk"! Perhaps I really should bring my copy of The Talking Machine Compendium to school, it would certainly benefit me more than any of my other texts!

E = MC Desk?! :?

Is it normal to have both of those decals on the case?

Especially since that banner decal was used for cylinder machines? :?

It's not uncommon. My BH, original finish also had both decals and I've noticed on other machines multiple times. I was suspicious at one time too.
