Hi
Not sure if this is the correct place for this. I was in my loft looking for some leather phonograph belts and came across an old book called The Home Handyman - A 1001 jobs in the home simplified. In it was a 6 page article about soundbox repairs, which maybe useful to someone on the forum. I have copied the pages and attached here. Hope it is of use to someone. I would not suggest that the contents are all correct. You must decide yourselves.Sorry not sure how to put pages into 1 folder.

Very interesting post. Does it have a date on it? My guess is from the 1920's

Re: The Gramophone Soundbox
The gramophone pictured in Fig.3 is an HMV Table Model 104, catalogued from 1929 to 1934, so presumably the book is contemporary.Phonofreak wrote:Very interesting post. Does it have a date on it? My guess is from the 1920's

I must say that the author's comments on medium and soft tone needles are not consistent with my experience, having used them very satisfactorily for well over 50 years!
