You could have bought an actual player for that price.

I would like to know what this C-250 phonobank is really worth! For $200 more than the winning bid on this toy bank, I got the real thing a few years ago.
A cute curiosity piece, and I would love to own one, but not at that price!

Worth every cent I think. If you look at the prices some fairly common cast iron money boxes get, it's really quite reasonable. Being some sort of pot metal, the survival rates would no doubt be fairly low, and they probably weren't produced in huge numbers to start with.
I wonder if they may have been given to children when mum & dad bought a new C250/C19 at some stage, either as an Edison promotion or by a particular dealer?
Very interesting & unusual object at any rate.
I'd certainly love to have one sitting on my C19.

I want one sitting on my C-250, also. What I do have above the machine is a framed portrait of Edison sitting beside a C-250. When people come over, I tell them that Edison paid me a visit and sat down beside the phonograph, and the photo is the proof.

You're lucky. Mines got a pic of Anna Case leaning on a C19. (at least the frames pretty lol.)

I imagine your portrait of Anna Case is the same as the postcard, with one hand on the C-19 and the other under her chin?

Yes, that's it. It's an ad for the new Edison, and they've cropped the picture to place it on a white background. The way they've cropped her hair makes her look like a real egg-head.
