Just brought home a nice oak Edison B80 diamond disc player, serial number SM 7876. Missing the grill and also needs a belt, but the cabinet is in good shape. The motor board is oak and very nice. The early style reproducer works beautifully, too. It has a stop lever on the motor board at 7:00.
This is my first belt drive Edison DD player. The spring winds up nicely and doesn't 'bind' while unwinding, and the motor is very quiet while running. I've read there may be an issue with uneven running, but I won't know that until I get a new belt. Anybody got an extra drive belt and grill?

Nice machine - I have two. Tom at "Gramps Treasures" can make you a perfect replacement grille exactly like the original. He has made me several grilles including Edison and Pathé. http://grampstreasures.com/edison_diamond_disc.html

Also got the motor running. Went to a church bazaar and bought a leather purse for 25c and made a drive belt from the handle. That worked! -

It is amazing that so much attention was given to grain painting parts of the horn that would never be seen by the average user.

I used HOWARD RESTOR-A-SHINE. Cleans down to the paint then polishes.

Got a couple questions about this machine.
Was the serial numbering continuous through the 80/B80 model run or did the numbering start over for the B-80?
Been unsuccessfully trying to find other examples of this machine in oak. Are there any photos of an oak B-80 out there?

The serial numbering ran sequentially from the A-80 into the B-80. A-80 production ended and B-80 production began somewhere between No.4219 and No.4968. The highest B-80 number I've seen is No.16824.CDBPDX wrote:
