How to use your Edison Disc Record File

Post by Valecnik »

For any of you A250 owners who've lost the instructions on how to use your Edison Disc Record file and accompanying record index, I thought I would post this. There was one of these for each the top and bottom drawer and 100 brown paper record dividers included in at least some A250s (the earliest ones just had wooden dividers between each individual record) and probably B250s if I recall correctly. It fits into a special wood slot at the front of each drawer.

I have a reproduction set of Edison Disc Record Files that I purchased from Matt Brown. I put the record dividers in the top drawer of the C-250 and placed the records in the drawer. I made a copy of the record index and typed in the names of the songs. This is a really cool accessory!

I still find it strange that an index card was included to write song titles on, with the drawer system, yet nothing was supplied for the later vertical slot system.

Thanks Bruce,

This reminded me that my C250 came with dividers so I went to take a look and I had the same index cards. Below is a picture of the dividers and I attached a scan of the front of the index card (as mine did not have writing on them) for anyone to print up their own.

My machine came out of a very old estate so I am confident that these dividers were with the machine back in the "era".

My question is: Were these standard with the machine, aftermarket, or "dealer incentive"?

Dividers. Opposite corners are cliped to reveal the number of the divider behind.

Rocky,

will the dividers from the top drawer work in the bottom drawer? On my A250 they are different and cannot be interchanged between the top and the bottom drawer.

They work in both drawers on my C250.

Here's a glimpse of the repro file cards I had made...
