Borgia I

I have a borgia I that has a cabinet in Ned of major repair, but looks to have most all parts in tact in clouding original radio, motor cranks and spins with no noises, even has needle. Anyone think the cabinet is savable or should I sell off the parts?
I have many more photos I can email.

You will certainly have to replace the veneer on the lid: the delamination on the door can possibly be reglued, and you'll need to fabricate a new back panel. Then you can work on refinishing...

Altogether, my feeling is that this machine ought to be preserved if at all possible. It may take time and money, but the final result would be worth it.

Easy for me to say since I wouldn't be the one reviving it, but based on the rarity why no try to extend it's life. Such a handsome machine should be enjoyed, right?

Well, although I am often a sucker for sad sack machines (as some of you know from my projects discussed on the Forum), this one may be beyond the pale. Obviously a lot of water damage and it could be even worse than it looks (which is pretty darn bad) when dissembled. It may have gone over that final cliff.

If that were my machine, I would save it. I've saved a couple of cases that were about as bad, and have one now that is a little worse (future project). If it were a more common one, I'd recommend finding another one in better condition, but this one is too rare to part out. I wish you were closer to me so I could help you bring it back to solid shape, or even get it from you. Cheers, Russie

I have a beautiful original finish Borgia 1 cabinet with no internal wood or guts. I would love to marry this machine with my cabinet.

I sure wouldn't blame anybody for parting out this machine. The case looks like a year-long project. That said, I'd happily take it on. I've got a lot of clamps and glue. Good luck with this Hendricksmd!
