eBay: jumpstart a collection for $15k

Recently, a friend made an expensive purchase on eBay and it turned out to be a scam. Apparently, the person's account may have been hijacked. The item did not arrive and the seller claimed it had been delivered. EBay made good for it, without hassles or delay. I was surprised. It was several thousand dollars. So some of their fees may be justified when something like this happens.
