Tino...I'm not entirely clear on your process but the end result is quite excellent. I'd like to hear what you've done with other diamond discs!

i haven't done any other dd's but i'm going to experiment on i'm thinking of 3-tracking a Pathé record
first i make 3 copies by copying one and converting another into flat stereo also called double mono
with a digital equalizer i isolate certain instruments and make them a little bit louder i do this to different instruments on opposite tracks now i have a raw stereo recording but the over exaggerated stereo will make you sea sick because your listening attention will flip from your right to your left ear a very ear-bleeding experience
now in my multi track view of my sound editor i ad a 3rd track this time in a lower volume than the edited stereo tracks by shifting the file in time on the multi track view i create a very very slight delay creating the illusion of space (think polyphone attachment or ultraphone)
now that is done i bounce (or dub) the file into the stereo tracks
by cutting certain frequencies in the stereo track and leaving them in the mono i create a front the illusion is complete you'll hear f.i. piccolo's and clarinets on the left and drum and piano on the right and a hobo seems to be playing in front of you

as you can see its a lot of work but the results so far are satisfactory maybe not perfect but i'm reasonably pleased
