However this is different because of the rarity and desirability of having a rare art case model. It is something many collectors would get rid of lesser machines to make space for. It will be very interesting to see what it brings, if we can find out.

agreed. I can't imagine any collector turning down a machine like this -- if, unlike this one, the price is right -- just because it's so much wider than a typical upright... at that, I don't think it's that much larger than a credenza. is this even a legitimate craigslist post? has anyone actually seen this machine?

I prefer the upright Period Models over the wide versions but I'm a very interested buyer at any period model wide or tall at $2500. Jerry

I would be very interested in purchasing the Victor Gothic console from whom you sold it to Mr. Skihawx, if they would be interested in parting with it by way of sale or trade or both.
I did finally sell it to a guy down in Florida. I don't recall his name at the moment.

$2,500 would be a bargain for most any period model, especially an upright. I'll second that!

I had offered the seller of the 500 William and Mary $7500, which he politely turned down, and now I'm very glad he did. I now am only interested in adding to my collection Victor's 500 Gothic model. I would happily pay $7500 for nice one.

I bought a William and Mary console model at Union several years ago. It was sitting right in the entrance and sat there a couple of days. Nobody wanted it at $2500.00. I wish I still had my second Gothic. I'd would sell it to you. I paid upwards of $5,000.00 for a wide Chippendale over ten years ago. I figured I would be upside down on that one for a long while.
