Mike do you mean the hook on the stylus bar, (back end of stylus bar) drags on the record? Could be your horn/elbow assembly are setting to low on that rod on which they pivot. Is the limit pin also bumping the shell of the reproducer when lowered or does it float in the middle of the limit loop as it should?

Do you know the production year range of the W19?
I used to own a W-19. Edison DD machines with the number 19 came out in April,1919, I guess due to the year. Similar models built before the 19 models had the number 250, referring to their cost. They were built up to August, 1927. The Edisonic models came out in August, 1927, but they kept building the London Upright into early 1928 in order to still have an economy model.
