I think it was Groucho Marx that said "I would never join any club that would have me for a member"----but I did anyway. MICHAEL

Well, here I am again, late to the party as usual. I just had to second all of the previous statements in commending the founders on a terrific forum for this topic that is near and dear to us. This has become what I had hoped the previous efforts would be---a place to learn and discuss. When a member and author like the esteemed George Paul signs on and "learns" here---that says a lot, don't you think? No matter how long we've been collecting, no matter how much we have owned or seen or sold over the years, it's a vast subject that none of us can truly know in its entirety. But, we can know a little bit and share it with each other. This has been an ideal way to make that happen, and so I add my big THANK YOU to the gents that have made it all possible.

As i was roundly chastised for not knowing that Walt (Victola GUY) was a member of this board, allow me to state this. 3 Vics is a member here also---a WOMAN---and a very classy lady also. Michael

George,

Are you sure that you don’t mean teaching? :D

I don’t think that anyone is late to this thread—I still have threads from quite a while ago to which I’ve been meaning to write responses, and altogether too many private messages that really should get a reply. The list of things that I would like to do with regards to content for this forum is still pretty long...

So I’m making some pretense of working on code as I commute home.

I cannot stress enough how much I have enjoyed getting to know our members, and that your collective appreciation does wonders to counteract my tendencies towards laziness. Of course, it may help that John’s proximity to my apartment makes it quite easy for him to knock on my door and solicit my assistance.

It’s almost hard to believe we’ve been at this for nearly 6 months in our new forum.talkingmachine.info domain—8900 posts have gone by very quickly. And I have a lot of music to catch up on downloading...

Thank you all!

I second all that has been said. I haven't been very active on this forum in a posting way, but I log in and read up every day! I really enjoy this forum, everybody is very nice and helpful, and the overall atmosphere is a big improvement over a certain former board that shall remain nameless.

Nothing more I can add that hasn't already been said, except my thank you to John, David & all the other members & guests that have made this forum the friendly, educational, & active place it is today.
Here's to many more years of the same :coffee:
(no champaigne glasses or beer mugs, so we'll have to have a toast with coffee lol)

Michael----Right you are, my mistake for which I apologize to 3Vics right here and now. She is indeed a very classy lady. Actually, on one of the previous boards, there was another lady that would post from time to time, I think from Canada? I think she went by the name of Cat? If she posts on here, my apologies as well to you. My post SHOULD have read "to the ladies and gents that have made it all possible".

You're very kind, but I think Kirkwood wrote it well:

"No matter how long we've been collecting, no matter how much we have owned or seen or sold over the years, it's a vast subject that none of us can truly know in its entirety. But, we can know a little bit and share it with each other."

...And THAT'S why I log on - - because I want to learn more! If I can offer an occasional piece of information to the board, it's the least I can do, and I'm happy & privileged to do so. But I'm just as much a student as someone who just started collecting. I have an aversion to possibly being perceived as a pompous know-it-all, so just save me a seat in the classroom and I'll be much obliged!

Best to all,
George P.
