That ad is from a Magazine. You can see that in the lower left corner. At the time of this ad, most printing was done from plates with relief images (letterpress printing), the image of the phonograph "could" have been a separate printing plate. The correct Brunswick model "could" have been confused in the making up of the page, and the Sonora plate shoved in, in place of the Brunswick by a worker who didn't know the difference.

The key to understanding this "mistake" would be to find this ad in other magazines and see if the correct machine is illustrated.
