What would be the purpose to extend the connection? It makes more sense to have a direct connection from the tonearm to the reproducer, like the Phon-arm. I did not find any patent info on this Keen attachment.

If this is the same Keen as the Keen-O-Phone remember some of his machines had a long coil of tubing at the end of the tone arm, supposedly to provide better sound.

It was offered by Mr. Keen and is shown in TMW issues of 1907.

There is nothing incorrect with the rare attachment being offered for sale. A very pricey attachment at $7.50.

It should be mentioned the remains of a horn end are still stuck in the keen horn elbow. Once removed, you can use any bayonet type horn.

I thought it was used for one of those record cabinets where you could also put in a machine. What I was talking about was one of those Herzog cabinets where you could hide the phonograph and store records.edisonplayer

That would work. Interesting idea.

You can always depend on Gramophone78 for the answers. This can't be disputed. Where do you find all these pictures?

Likely from the Talking Machine World, it's quite a resource.

One man's junk is another man's treasure. :)

Personally, I'm surprised it didn't go higher, and I've congratulated the buyer. He reports that the seller has received emails from unsuccessful bidders expressing remorse that they didn't bid higher, and to let them know if the deal falls through, etc...

In a market where Bettini Attachments and Polyphone Attachments (which exist by the dozens) are valued above $6000, I thought this Keen Attachment (the only one I've ever heard of) would go for more than it did. A fully-documented accessory from 1907, possibly the only survivor, in nice condition, with such visual impact, is not something often encountered. I'd love to have it! :)
